Project presentation

Located in the Montérégie region, halfway between Montreal and Châteauguay, Mercier is a residential town where single-family homes dominate the landscape. It was in this typical southern Montreal suburban setting that Aluminium Distinction installed a black Standard 2520 ramp in 2020, combining functionality with understated aesthetics.

The homeowner had a specific need: a sturdy, maintenance-free outdoor aluminum railing that would blend seamlessly with the existing facade of his home. The Standard 2520 model in black powder-coated finish perfectly met these criteria—with a more generous profile than the 2320, ideal for larger patios, and featuring the same maintenance-free black finish that characterizes the entire Standard line from Aluminium Distinction.

The four photos of this project show the entire installation from various angles, highlighting the precision of the assembly and the clean lines of the 2520 model.

Project features

Standard Model — the versatile big brother

The 2520 features a slightly wider handrail section than the 2320, providing a comfortable grip and a more striking visual presence. This model is particularly popular for long, straight sections along the edge of a deck, where proportionality is key to the final visual effect.

Matte black — in harmony with residential architecture

The matte black finish of the 2520 model blends naturally with the building materials used in Montérégie homes—red brick, vinyl siding, and gray stucco. This neutral and timeless color choice allows the railing to blend in discreetly without distracting the eye from the overall architectural design.

Certified Professional Installation

This outdoor aluminum railing was installed by an Aluminium Distinction-certified installer, ensuring secure anchors in the concrete slabs and perfectly aligned joints. The quality of the installation is just as important as the quality of the product in ensuring the railing’s durability and safety.

Sustainability in the Montérégie Region

Homes in the Montérégie region are exposed to hot, humid summers and winters with significant temperature fluctuations. The powder-coated aluminum in the Standard line withstands all these conditions without warping, rusting, or fading—a guarantee of peace of mind for homeowners.

Results

The black Standard 2520 railing has completely transformed the look of the deck at this Mercier property. Sturdy, safe, and maintenance-free, it blends seamlessly into the city’s residential landscape—exactly what the owner wanted.
